We saw James around our mid 50’s. his advice was outstanding and it’s the best move we ever made seeking his advice. It’s only fee for service and definitely worth paying for the advice. We have both now retired on our 60 th birthday, my husband at 58. It’s been life changing for us. We have no children though but they still give very sound advice to plan for the future. Since then we have referred about a dozen or more friends to Oak .

We went to James Harper due to the fact that his firm (Oak Advisory) is independent and only works on a fee basis. We had arranged our affairs carefully but we wanted to perform a "reality check" around the adequacy of the rate of return on the monies in our super fund. James did a first class analysis and recommended that we move to another fund. This move has been very successful. James' advice has achieved better downside risk management for us along with superior rates of return. We recommend both James and Oak Advisory very highly.

James is a friendly and professional advisor. I checked out the industry thoroughly before choosing Oak Advisory and it is one of only a couple of places in Perth where you can get truly independent financial advice. James had prepared well for our initial meeting and showed that he understood the spirit and intent of our financial goals. He was enthusiastic about helping us set up for the future, and his agreement with the financial principles I had set in place before our meeting was further evidence to me of his independence and that his priority was our best interests. The further proof is the statement of advice we received which was as ambitious as we wanted, but also prudent and sensible, solidly underpinned by debt reduction and tax optimisation as a base. Highly recommended.

Can not recommend this service more. I was previously insured through a non-independent financial consultant who took tailing commissions. I was aware of this, but not aware of how much extra expense this represented. James at Oak Advisory was recommended to me by a friend. He was able to provide me with IDENTICAL insurance from the SAME provider for less than half the price! With these savings, James' once off commission was recovered in less than 4 months! In addition, the service was easy, fast and professional. Even the thought of reviewing my insurance brought up feelings of dread, but James made the process a pleasure. I actively recommend speaking with Oak to any friends and colleagues who are interested.
