Editorial assessment

What we love

  • Spanish and Portuguese-language counselling — rare among Melbourne education consultancies, and genuinely useful for Latin American students less confident in English.

  • In-house NAATI translation — removes the need to engage a separate translation provider for visa and enrolment documents.

  • Free consultation and service model — no placement fees for students, with all core services (counselling, visa support, accommodation) included.

Where it falls short

  • Melbourne-only physical presence — students outside Victoria must engage remotely with no in-person option.

  • Newer, smaller operation — limited publicly verifiable track record; ask for student references and confirm which institutions are within the partner network.

  • Phone contact is a mobile number — limited formal office infrastructure; confirm appointment availability and office hours before visiting.

Wow. I couldn’t believe the range of reviews. I can only say my experience was exceptional. From Neil in the office to Caleb, Alex and Adam installing my new ZF transmission. Old one removed and new one installed in the one day and done with my boat in the water. Caleb stayed back to complete a sea trial and I couldn’t have been happier with the quality and professionalism exhibited.

Can only agree with a previous reviewer ONE STAR IS TOO MANY. Very expensive and long wait but that is the good bit. The owner is rude and arrogant and is difficult to communicate with. They rebuilt my Volvo D9 at a cost of $70000 and then refused to put it back in the boat. I had to get a third party to install it into the boat. Da Met were there to start it and water test it for the first time. Unfortunately they did not check the oil and water and started it dry. It seized. Peter refused to do anything at all and walked away leaving me with a blown motor. I had to get another repairer to rebuild it again at MY expense. Another $45000 and it was mobile again. Legal action was taken and has now been settled. This company does not take any responsibility for their actions and look for any excuse to pass the buck elsewhere. My recommendation is RUN

The owner is very rude and unprofessional. lm astonished this business is still operating. Wish we had checked previous reviews before engaging Da Met. Expensive, dishonest and terrible sloppy workmanship. A complete waste of time and money. We’re now out of pocket and our equipment is not fixed.

These people are unprofessional and untrustworthy. Had a problem with my engine which they diagnosed as a cracked turbocharger and charged me $15 000 to replace it. Did not need replacing. Then they said the engine needed to come out of the boat for $15 000 maximum repairs to replace a cyclinder lining. They then ripped the deck hatch and engine out of the boat using people clearly incompetent in this type of work causing $50 000 plus damage to my tower legs, deck hatch and quoted a further $50 000 to $90 000 to fix an engine that costs about $75 000.00 new!. Do not trust a word they say. Pirates.

One star is too much. Have you heard of the Dunning–Kruger effect ? Here it is personified, This company is infested from bottom to top with people so stupid and incompetent that they lack the ability to recognize their own ineptitude, paradoxically, they suffer from a misplaced confidence and an undeserved illusion of adequacy. This company is COMPREHENSIVELY incompetent, from ordering, installing, servicing, beginning to end, they are total muppets. Almost NOTHING was done professionally and as a result significant damage was done to the engines. As an added bonus, the owner is probably the rudest and most arrogant business person I have ever met. On the bright side, when I did experience engine failure, the owner refused to answer emails, which allowed me to find another Volvo dealer who fixed their stuff ups. ENGAGE THEM AT YOUR PERIL !!

CompareMyAgents Editorial

The bottom line

MET Australia's dual value is its Latin American language specialisation and in-house NAATI translation — two services most Melbourne consultancies outsource or do not offer. As a smaller, newer operation, it lacks the institutional track record of established agencies. Students should ask for references and verify which institutions are within its partner network. For Latin American students specifically, the language accessibility and NAATI capability are genuine differentiators.
